Orange/Soy Marinated Pork Chops with Pineapple...
Between the previous pancetta and now the pork chops… I guess you could say I’m on a pig-kick, so I think I’m due for a break from the other white meat for awhile.
Billy mentioned pineapple salsa and it gave me the idea to make a pineapple mango salsa to pair with something a bit more bland. Since I was sick of cooking chicken breast I opted for pork chops (they were also on...

Creamy Homemade Ricotta
Apologies for the lack of cheesy photo - but I made homemade ricotta Thursday evening and it was delicious… and addicting. I’ll be making this a lot more often now, especially with chocolate and sugar for a dessert mousse.
I stumbled across the recipe over at Food52. Check it out below:
Makes 2 cups
4 cups whole milk
1 cup heavy cream
3/4 cups buttermilk
1/2...

Jumbo Soft Pretzels
They’re probably my favorite thing about carnivals, amusement parks, sports events and NYC in general. I love pretzels. I love the taste, texture, the crunch of the salt… they’re probably one of the best snacks out there. I decided to whip some up for my friend Kim’s carnival-themed birthday extravaganza. I yoinked the recipe from Elissa over at 17andBaking but the...

Upcoming Baking Adventures
Hoping to make traditional Irish soda bread this week.
And for the end of the month, per request by my sister-in-law, oatmeal-raisin chocolate chip walnut cookies, almond cupcakes with fresh raspberry frosting (garnished with crushed toasted almonds) and either jumbo pumpkin muffins with a drizzled maple/caramel glaze or apple bread with the same glaze.
My oven’s gonna get some serious...

Mind-Blowing Banana Walnut Chocolcate Chunk Jumbo...
Mouthful, right? Well.. they were the most delectable mouthful of choco-nutty banana goodness I’ve had in quite some time.
I also tested out using my own “muffin cup liners” to give it a more artisanal look and they came out surprisingly well and looked like ones you’d get in a swanky West Village cafe.
Anyway… the recipe was super easy and instead of using white flour I highly advise using...

Dark Chocolate-Dipped, Orange-Almond Biscotti
It’s the most wonderful time of the year! Cookie-overload time. I don’t know about you guys, but I was raised knowing that Christmas time meant a copious amount of homemade Italian cookies (probably why I was such a chub as a kid, but c’mon… there’s a little cookie monster inside us all).
Some friends of mine hosted a Christmas Party last weekend so I decided to whip...

GUEST BLOGGER KIM: Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Cookies
My dear friend Kim made these delectable Pumpkin Chocolate Chip cookies and I had to share them with everyone because they were THAT good and actually not horribly bad for you. She yoinked the recipe from SporkorFoon which is a super fun blog if you haven’t checked it out yet!
Enough of this squash-talk… let’s make some cookies with Kim!

Linguine with Turkey Italian Sausage, Tomatoes,...
The other weekend I ventured down to Long Beach Island to experience their annual Chowderfest! We arrived at a friend’s family’s beach house Saturday and rather than all of us paying to go out to eat or order-in, I decided to cook. Since I was mostly feeding a bunch of hungry boys, I decided to double this recipe but I’m posting it with it’s normal serving size (not...

Crossing Some Finish Lines
A few years ago I never would have even pictured myself where I’m at right now. It probably would have seemed like this tiny speck of hope that maybe one day I could walk into a clothing store and not have to go straight for the plus size section, that I could wear knee-high boots, that I could fit one-size-fits-all bangle bracelets over my hands.
I never would have envisioned myself an...

Nutella Pocket Cookies with Cinnamon Sugar Cookie...
Yeah… if you’ve never experienced a foodgasm yet, here’s a golden opportunity. For those who know me, you very well know my obsession with this chocolatey hazelnut spread… I can’t keep jars of it around anymore because I’ll sit here eating it with a spoon.
I came across this recipe on La Fuji Mama and couldn’t pass up the opportunity. I’m...

Blackberry Jam Almond Bars
Went to a lovely housewarming party this past weekend and decided to take a jab at these Blackberry Jam Almond Bars I stumbled upon over at 17 and Baking (Elissa is amazing if you haven’t checked out her blog yet). I think she yoinked the recipe from Sophistimom but, either way, I’m giving her the credit for posting the recipe and for the image above since I didn’t get a chance...

Homemade Apple Walnut Pancakes
If you know me, you love my love for pancakes. I remember having them for dinner as a kid… I always felt like my parents were breaking some parenting rule. Summers in Maine consisted of fresh picked blueberries tossed into the batter. Pancakes for breakfast. Pancakes for lunch. Pancakes for dinner. You get the deal here… if I could marry a pancake, I probably would. They’re...

Poor Woman's Fishcakes over Veggie Brown Rice
I didn’t take a picture, sorry! However I did randomly create this meal while on the phone with my grandma… It made me feel like I was on a cooking show. “Brooklyn Cookin’ with Uncanny Annie.” Put that in your juice box and suck it, world wide web!
Last night I was famished and craving some sort of fish for dinner, but I’m poor. So, I ended up making a...

Mighty Morphing Turkey Burgers
The other day I made a copious amount of homemade turkey burgers with onion, garlic, tarragon, black pepper and cayenne pepper. The ground turkey was on sale a few weeks ago and was sitting in the freezer… so I decided to just use ALL of it at once.
It was this afternoon while I was nomming on one for lunch that I realized I’m going to be stuck eating these all week. Great. This turkey ...

Peppermint-Chocolate Sandwich Cookies
It’s Christmas in July! I made these as Christmas gifts this past winter and they were highly praised. Apparently they also keep well in the freezer for a few weeks (my grandparents called me near the end of February to say how they were nomming on the cookies). With age comes wisdom!
I’ll be honest: these were not easy to make and not for those who are looking for a simple...

Chocolate Crinkle Cookies
Look at ‘em… pretty maids all in a row. Simply scrumptious. I made four dozen of these for the trip to Maine and they lasted less than 24 hours after we arrived. What’s great about Chocolate Crinkle cookies is that they’re not only absolutely delicious but they’re extremely easy to make and you can add your own twists to them by swapping out the confectioners sugar...

Strawberry-Banana Smoothie
I have triumphantly returned from my vacation but have fallen ill! Great timing, right? What better way to boost some vitamins than a homemade smoothie? Also considering that my throat feels like I’m scraping glass shards against it every time I swallow, making eating solid foods an impossible/extremely painful experience.
Therefore… Stirring things up with Strawberry-Banana...

More Than Burnt Out! Vacation Time!
Happy Hump Day my sweet followers! I have spent the past two days baking my little booty off in the kitchen: three different types of cookies in two nights… 8 dozen cookies in 80-90 degree weather. More sweat went into the cookies than blood and tears and I feel I’ve created an Army of Cookies. True Fact: If Bruce Campbell was actually given the option of attaching the chainsaw or an...

Pokeball Cupcakes
Went to a lovely BBQ/Pool party this weekend in celebration of summer and a friend turning a quarter-of-a-century old. I figured I’d surprise him with some themed cupcakes and what better theme for a 25-year-old comic/cartoon junkie than Pokemon!
There’s really no need for instructions on how to make these suckers. I did a simple yellow cake box mix and made some butter cream...

Easy Spicy Chicken Soft-Shell Tacos
I decided to soak some black beans all day so I could come home and make one of my favorite foods, tacos! It’s amazing how quickly a taco/burrito can go from healthy to absolutely horrible for you. Places like Chipotle succeed greatly in that department and as much as I love super-burritos, I tend to keep things on the waistline-conscious side when it comes to actual mealtime.

A Tasty Triumph!
Thanks to social media (aka Twitter), I heard that Serge the Concierge (the oh-so-fabulous French guy from New Jersey) was giving away a copy of Ciao Bella’s Book of Gelato & Sorbetto to the first person who could give the name of the person F.W. Pearce bought Ciao Bella from.
My answer: Who originally owned Ciao Bella? They were cousins: Jon Snyder and Laura Grady. But Jon was...

Guinness Cupcakes with Baileys Butter Cream...
Let’s get one thing straight. I love Guinness. If we’re in a bar I’ve never visited, my first question is usually “Do they have Guinness on tap?” I’m that kind of gal.
Alongside my love for that dark, frothy brew, I equally adore cupcakes. Something about the baby cakes just leaves a warm, tingly feeling inside - or it could just be the multiplication of fat...

Happy First Day of Summer!
What better way to kick off the summer fun than with a BBQ? Bust out the plastic utensils, iced-tea-lemonade, potato salad, burgers and cupcakes!
I absolutely love a good BBQ, but what normal American doesn’t? So in honor of spending the summer at the grill, let’s make some cheeseburger cupcakes.
I recently made these for a friend’s birthday and they were a huge hit:
